In connection with this year's World Press Freedom Day, Ethiopian media personnel and communication officers drawn from private and state media outlets discussed the current status of press freedom and its irreplaceable role in building democracy in Ethiopia. In his opening speech, Government Communication Affairs Office Minister Redwan Hussein yesterday noted that following the downfall of the Derg Regime, the incumbent immediately abolished all forms of censorship and freedom of press was declared in a bid to ensure the free flow of information and ideas.
